About Fused Glass:
Each piece is individually made by Judith Geiger using sheets of colored glass. Every
shape or dot of color is cut to the desired shape, layered on a base piece of glass and kiln
fired to approximately 1500 degrees. All of the small, cut pieces melt into one smooth,
permanent piece of glass. Sometimes, wire or copper foil is imbedded in the glass
layers before firing.
Most fused glass pieces are mounted on polychromed masonite and framed in square profile natural ramin wood shadow-box style frames. Other pieces are mounted on black wrought-iron stands.
Judith Geiger is well known for her colorful, whimsical paintings on silk. She is translating that same unique design sense to these fused glass pieces.
