part of the Bushwick Starr Reading Series
Written by Jessica Almasy
I played the parts of The Electric Monkey and Bubbe. The play is a sort of avant garde fantasia melange of scenes depicting the revolution and rebellion of a group of teens The electric monkey was an electric toy monkey that sat on the shoulder of the owner of a bowling alley (played by William Burke) and Bubbie, the grandmother, played by me through a small baby doll in a hijab. I designed the outfit for the electric monkey and created the Bubbe doll (picture above and below, respectively).
