Fine Point Pen . BW Sketch . Color Sketch . Glimpses . The Quilt

~ T H E _ Q U I L T ~

In the summer of '10, with impending college careers and moves to new cities on the horizon, my good friends and I decided to work collectively on a quilt together that we continue to mail around. Below are my contributions. Many of the squares began as experiments in what I could do with sewing and then grew to have themes inside of themselves once I was finished.

ABSTRACT THOUGHT

Linen squares with small bead extensions, beading, and inkjet-printer-on-jersey loteria squares. Background: Watercolor on cotton. Base: Linen.

PEACEFUL OFFERING

Woman made from remnants of a vintage dress of mine and gold thread. Beaded trail and accents.

ODE TO THE BAKERY

I drive and have driven a 1978 VW Bus since 2008 endearingly named "The Bakery". We have ha many fantastic days together and this square was an ode to my best machine buddy. Bus made of fine-point sharpie on linen with accents of vintage dress remnants.

STILL DREAMING

A few friends and colleagues of mine from high school travelled 16 hours north of our little coastal town, into a little canyon off the highway in Mendocino county to attend the music festival "Still Dream" during senior year. This little tribute features a bed of flowers and tent accents made from remnants of vintage dresses, handwriting on linen, hand beading and an ink-jet-on-jersey loteria square.

CONSTELLATIONS

Hand beaded constellations connected by fine point sharpie on Raoul Textiles printed linen. Hand water-colored cotton circles with hand drawn images from old star charts.

Heady Tea

Cup made from Raoul Printed Linen that I outliend in pen, with steam and aroma made from vintage dress remnants, hand beading and gold thread. I was an avid tea drinker, enthousiast and maker in high school as well as a bit of a psychonaut.

Ode to Human Ingenuity

Collaged remnants of Raoul Textiles, hand drawings on linen, ink-jet-on-jersey loteria and a hand drawn and pen colored brain patch.
